Explanation: Profit

The term “profit” refers to the financial gain that a company makes when revenue exceeds expenditure. It is a key indicator of a company's economic performance and is calculated as the difference between the sales generated and the total costs (including production, administrative and other costs). Profit variants are gross profit (difference between sales and direct production costs) and net profit (profit after deduction of all costs, including taxes and interest).
