“Modular manufacturing” is a production method in which companies assemble products from standardized, prefabricated modules or components. The modules can be developed, manufactured and maintained independently of one another.
This type of manufacturing provides more flexibility: by combining different modules, products can be customized, e.g. according to customer specifications. In addition, modular manufacturing shortens development times and reduces costs, as identical modules can be used in different products.
