Explanation: Laboratory Information and Management System (LIMS)

A “laboratory information and management system” is a software solution. It is used in laboratories that work with large volumes of samples and data, for example in clinical diagnostics, in industrial quality assurance laboratories or in R&D laboratories.

A LIMS supports the organization and documentation of daily work processes. It is a key technology for the automation and standardization of laboratory processes. Its main functionalities include sample management, data management, quality assurance and compliance as well as reporting.
