Explanation: Just-in-time (JIT) production

Just-in-time (JIT) production is an operations management strategy in the context of industrial manufacturing. The aim is to design production processes in such a way that materials and components are available exactly when the company needs them for production. This reduces warehousing to a minimum and maximizes production efficiency.

JIT aims to avoid waste, reduce costs and improve quality. To achieve this, it should ensure that all production steps are perfectly coordinated. This requires precise planning and close cooperation with suppliers in order to guarantee punctual deliveries while being able to react flexibly to fluctuations in demand.
